COLOURING and DESIGN WITH ZEN

Find your inner Zen by colouring in and designing your own, unique fabric.
This class is all about well-being, relaxation, fun and sparking your creativity for all ages and stages. Then make your original fabric into a cushion, bag or small artwork for the wall and/or it could be the beginnings of a quilt. However, there’s no pressure to make it into anything , as at the very least by the very act of colouring in and patterning, you’d have taken part in perfect calming exercises in mindfulness and creativity

We’ll colour in beautiful mandalas, repetitive patterns and geometric shapes firstly on paper and then fabric, and create your own original, individualised fabric using paint, pens, stamps, stencils, foils and quilting.  Suitable for all levels.

Colour Glitter and Glitz

You’ll learn how to make a small, individualized, textured wall hanging in bright colours with glitz and glitter. I’ve used bright colours, but a more traditional colour scheme would work equally as well.  After making a quick quilted background various decorative techniques will be taught, such as the use of paint, stencils, stamps, soldering irons, angelina fibres, hand and machine embroidery, plastics, appliqued shapes and flowers, braids, beads and sequins. This is a fun, creative and easy project for quilters of all skill levels, and students will learn many embellishing  techniques and tricks to ‘make’ fabrics, which could then be adapted to many other projects. The completed size can vary depending on individual choices, but in class we’ll make a wall hanging approximately 31”x15”.
